Sick, and a bit grumpy, but still baking.

Sick as a dog but I did manage to bake these..
This has been the suckiest week in the history of sucky weeks. What started out as a simple sore throat has turned into a nasty, nasty cold. And because my parents always taught me to share, G is now afflicted as well.
I can't remember the last time he and I have been laid up sick at the same time. Our living room is currently littered with mugs, kleenex, and reading materials, with just enough space left for 2 pyjama-clad grumps.
Luckily, G seems to have developed a rather comical cough and I find myself breaking out in laughter every time he does it, which is about oh, every 2 minutes or so.
I know, this could be a sign that I'm taking too much cough medicine, but sometimes a girl needs to make her own fun, right? (and when did cough medicine start tasting so good?)
Needless to say, our weekend does not look promising. But we do have a good arsenal of movies in our apartment. It may just be a fight over feel-good chick flicks or movies in which many things are detonated and/or killed.
Pass the kleenex, it's going to be a long couple of days..

The Muffins
The recipe for Banana-Macadamia Nut Muffins is from Epicurious. I only had pecans on hand so that is what I used. They clearly haven't cured our colds, but they sure tasted good. And sometimes, that's as much as you can hope for.

Detonated and killed. That's my vote. You've already used up enough kleenex. Don't want to risk the supply by watching chick flicks.
If you're grumpy because your sick, I understand.
But what's your excuse the rest of the time?
; )
(Get well soon...xo)
Manage to make these, and managed to take a lovely photo. If I didn't know you so well, I'd think you were faking - I know that when I'm sick, I'm a full on pain in the rear. I may have raised my head to bake, but done little else than hunker down and munch away the afternoon after all that. You're a trooper, darlin!
Kevin, you make a very, very good point. As a woman, I think your argument is almost too good. You've done this before haven't you.. Am I right? ;)
David, well of course the rest of the time I'm just grumpy because I don't live closer to you and all your chocolatey treats. (Oh Rocky Road, how I miss you.) You know what I'm sayin'?
Tara, if I had been 'lucky' enough to catch a 2 day bug, believe me I would have snuggled in bed and stayed there. But after a few days a girl gets restless and in those brief moments of clarity when the cough syrup kicks in, sometimes you just need to feel normal again. And a good homebaked muffin does wonder for the spirits under those circumstances I tell you.
Michelle,
I seem to have the exact same virus, which I also happened to have last month...
I haaate summer - what's the point of hot weather if get sick anyway?
Those muffins look perfect - might whip up a batch as soon as the advil will do its job!

Hope you and G feel better soon!
warm milk and honey is what you need to fight the cough...or was it brandy? oh well, try copiouos amount of both...
get well soon!!!! : )
Fanny, I know! There is nothing worse than having a cold in the summer. Thank goodness its been kind of grey and rainy these last few days because it makes me feel a bit better about being cooped up in my apartment. I can't believe you've caught it twice in a month-- you poor girl!
K&S, oh my goodness so do I!
Ales, hmm, the brandy sounds like a good idea. If it doesn't cure me at least it might make me tipsy enough not to care!
If you are laghing at G, then you must be feeling a pinch better!
And David, get that girl some rocky road, man! It's a medical emergency!
Michèle, these look so good! I haven't made muffins in a while now.
Your blog is beautiful!
