Parties, leotards and celebratory tuna

Bouchons au Thon with kudos to Molly

One day a young couple moved into a Parisian apartment. It was spacious and pretty and they were happy. They bought some new furniture, they hung up some pictures and did their best to build a new home for themselves.
And then one night there was a party.
A loud one.
Fifteen pairs of feet stomping and dancing in the apartment above their heads.
The young couple grumbled a bit to themselves but they did not complain.
"We're hip, we're cool. We can handle a little noise."
When the next party occurred shortly thereafter, they stayed quiet again.
"Perhaps it's just the time of year?" they said to each other.
Then January came and another party, and another one after that, and even more followed still, one after the other. But still they did not complain. This took great strength, because this happy young couple was forced to listen to Madonna's new song "Hung Up" about 6 or 7 times per party.
"It's not such a bad song, is it?" she said to her boyfriend.
"No, I guess not."
"But I'm really starting to hate it, aren't you?"
And then the young couple discussed how unreal Madonna's leotarded bottom looks in that video. But that is neither here nor there.

Finally the girl could take it no more.
"I'm going to find the concierge!" she announced, because she loved gloating that she had a concierge. It sounded so much more frou-frou to say that than 'superintendent'.

"Please help us, we can't take it anymore!" she pleaded.
And the kind sir began to speak very, very rapidly in French. But from the look in his eye she could tell he was commiserating with her. Words flew out of his mouth and she understood some of them: no more parties, lots of complaints, next time he is calling the police. She didn't know they did that in France, but the girl was happy.

She thanked him and bid him adieu breathing a sigh of relief, and returned back to her pretty apartment and made Molly's Bouchons au Thon to celebrate. And they were great.

The bouchons

Ever since I first saw these on Molly's blog, I have wanted to try them. And they didn't disappoint. If you love tuna I think you will really love these. They are a simple combination of canned tuna, eggs, crème fraiche, onion, parsley, gruyère cheese, and tomato paste. You throw it all together and bake them in a muffin tin. It doesn't get much easier than that. They are creamy and deliciously tasty, and a fantastic change from however you might usually eat tuna.. which for me, as much as I love them, is usually a boring old tuna sandwich.
These are great as is, or with an extra dollop of crème fraiche on top and served with a salad.

Notes:
-watery, mushy tuna can really ruin the texture of these. Find a good chunk light tuna and drain it well.
-try whipping the egg whites separately until stiff peaks form and fold it into the rest of the mixture to make the bouchons a bit airier and less dense.

YAY!
no more noisy late bad taste parties :)
But tunna bouchons even better!

It looks like you have finally found good tinned tuna?

You got me! How could I possibly refrain from reading a post that has the word LEOTARD in the title? I know, I know, I always ready your posts anyway, but that's not really the point.
Maybe you should start an event whereby all the entrants have to cook a meal wearing a LEOTARD.

My dear, I am thrilled that my bouchons have made it back to Paris, the site of their origin! Three cheers for canned tuna! I'm so glad you approve.

And speaking of approval (or lack thereof), I am so sorry to hear of your upstairs-neighbors madness. I can sympathize, given that only recently I was complaining to my apartment manager about the woman above me, who would tap-dance(!!!) on her kitchen floor! Regularly! At 7 am! And vacuum at 4 am! Until, of course, she moved out last month. Phew. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to live in apartments. Unless, of course, they bake bouchons and share them with you, maybe?

Congrats on ridding yourself of your loud partying neighbors! And cheers for returning to your happy quiet life in your pretty apartment! I do agree about the leotard - yikes. These bouchons sound utterly amazing...I think I will have to celebrate you posting them and make them myself!

I have no idea how they taste but they do look great in the pic. I'll try them. Good idea for a plain tuna tin.

You are one very patient girl, Michele;)
I somehow missed these tuna creations on Molly's blog, thanks for bringing it my attention! They look a bit like something I've done with feta&spinach&eggs, so I can easily imagine how nice they'd taste..

I used to be that neighbor, am now complaining about one :)
Love the twist on tuna. Will have to try them, as I never seem to be able to get passed the 'just tuna in a can'.

Clare, you have a fine memory! Yes, France has much better tuna than what I was finding in Germany. Although its also quite expensive here so maybe that's why--they're bringing in the good stuff!

Sam, Got you with leotard huh! As for that leotard-filled event, it would definitely have to wait until the summer when all of us have some time to work that winter fluff off our butts? But then again, it would be too hot to wear leotards by then.. Damn, what a conundrum!

Molly, a tap dancing upstairs neighbour? Oh my.. that is my worst nightmare. I commend you for surviving it and am so happy to hear that she moved out. And thanks for bringing the bouchons into my life, I think they will be a regular feature from now on.

Michelle, well we haven't gotten rid of the neighbours yet but the rest of the tenants and our concierge are on high alert for the next party. So at least something is being done about it.. which is about all I can ask for for now. I hope you like the bouchons--they are crazy but yummy.

Dreska, they are definitely a surprising taste but delicious and so much more exciting than regular tuna.

K&S, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will keep it down from now on or I just might blow my lid.

Pille, I'm patient to a fault I think, this time I think I was just being a coward! I should have said something long ago.. oh well. Ooh, your feta, spinach, egg thing sounds great, I think I'll give it a try!

Andreea, funny! but I do hope your noisy neighbour troubles dont last long. Let me know what you think of the bouchons if you try them.

Hey, I'm so glad you finally complained about that woman! Who the heck walks around the house at 7am with high heels on?!? And I have to agree with you about both Madonna's surreal rear-end (which has been making far too many appearances on late-night tv for my taste) and Molly's bouchons - which, in comparison, are not only better looking but have infinitely more taste! ;)

Yummy! I want to try these. With my clompy neighbors, I started wearing earplugs. But of course that doesn't block out the bass beat. You poor thing. I hope this is the end of it...

Who doesn't walk around in high-heels at 7am? Get with the program!

Melissa, well now I've found out that there are 2 of them up there! so thats twice the amount of high heels, which totally explains why it seems that they are always walking around in them..

Cindy, I need earplugs too. And big honking headphones with ambient noises. Maybe waves crashing. Or crickets. Something.

David, ok so remind me never to live under your apartment!
